You may remember when I mentioned Bahia-Capoeira Blog’s Berimbau Arames for Dummies tutorials.
Well, now they have finished the series, and you should go check it out!
If you have any berimbau-construction related tips, please feel free to share them with us!

Comment by faisca February 13, 2008 @ 2:51 pmdoes anyone know where to get beriba wood from in england?
Comment by Matt February 20, 2008 @ 12:33 pmThanks for the shout-out, Faisca!
Matt, unfortunately biriba doesn’t grow in England so you’ll have to get it from Brazil or another tropical country. If you want RAW biriba (i.e. with the bark still on), your best bet is to have someone go there and bring it back, since customs will often reject shipments of what looks like raw vegetable matter.
Comment by Shayna February 28, 2008 @ 3:52 pmHi Shayna,
Thanks very much for your response! I am beginning to think that you are right, and that the only way to do it is to just go there and get it myself! I want to make my own berimbau, and am tempted to use bamboo, but I really want to do it using the proper materials.
Thanks again,
Matt
