What is RSS, you say? Well, I’m glad you asked. (If you’re reading this in an RSS reader already, I applaud you, and you really don’t have to read the rest of the post. But maybe you’ll want to anyway, in which case, thanks!)
RSS stands for “really simple syndication,” and it’s an easy way to stay up to date with all of your favorite blogs. All blogs have RSS feeds, and these feeds can be collected in an RSS reader (yours truly prefers Google Reader, but there are plenty of other ones out there).
So, instead of clicking on dozens of favorites every day (which can get pretty darn time consuming if you enjoy reading a multitude of blogs), you can click on one favorite and see all of your favorite blogs’ latest updates.
If you want a more in-depth explanation, here’s the Wikipedia article on RSS.
Now, what does that mean for y’all here on The Capoeira Blog? Well, if you haven’t noticed before, I hope you will notice now, that there is a Subscribe section in the sidebar to the left. And in the Subscribe section, there is an orange box with what looks like a radar, or soundwaves, or… something (I really have no idea what it’s supposed to be), which is the web-standard icon for RSS.
If you click the icon, or click here to go to the Subscribe page, you can subscribe to The Capoeira Blog’s RSS feed. The benefit to subscribing to our feed is that you’ll never miss a new post (well, you might if you never check your feed reader, but I’m sure you can find time to do that between Facebooking and chatting with friends on Capoeira Espaco).
So, have you subscribed to our feed yet? Are there any other blogs to which you subscribe and think would benefit everyone here? Feel free to share with us in the comments!
P.S. I have to give a shout out to Joaninha from Mandingueira, from whom I stole the great big RSS icon. Thanks, Joaninha!
